As stated in the Human Rights Watch, a 2015 attack in Northern Syria led to the killing of 233 to 262 and wounding 273 civilians. This was a targeted attack, tricking the innocent people by wearing similar clothing, proceeding to fatally shoot them after gaining their trust. Their main objective was to attack the citizens, mainly killing Kurds in the end. This prompted fighting between Kurdish and ISIS forces, ongoing till this day. Witnesses clearly state how their main objective was to spread terror throughout villages, attempting to establish authority and superiority amongst the common public. This attack established more of ISIS' intentions, creating a bigger threat to most people, not just military forces.
